Operations Manager

Many years ago I left my career as a social worker and set up Windward. I live just over the border in Dorset with my 5 children, husband and too many animals! It's a privilege to be part of providing this service to the wonderful people here.

Sally Mardell
Coordinator Manager

Hi, I'm Sally. I've been with Windward quite a while now and still absolutely love my job. My role at Windward is to make sure we have the best staff for the people who access our service, and that our clients get the best quality support they need to enable them to flourish. I manage the day to day rota for our 5 locations, ensuring that staff are matched to clients. I feel very fortunate to be working with such an excellent staff team who are enthusiastic, kind, thoughtful and caring in all that they do.

Office Manager

If you give us a ring it will probably be me answering as I manage the office at Windward. I started as a support worker and I am still lucky enough to have a job which gives me flexibility to do a bit of both hands on work and office work.

Chris Gibbs
HR Manager

Hi, I'm Chris or Gibbsy to most!! I have worked at Windward Day Services since 2009. I previously worked at Salterns School in Totton and many of the guys from there now access our centres; it really is great to see how much they have progressed over time. I am involved in all things HR and am an integral cog in the Windward Office team.

Project Manager

I have worked in the learning disability sector for many years as a support worker, qualified teacher and manager. I joined the team back in 2006 and have been part of the expansion and development of our services ever since. My role includes overseeing new projects, sourcing resources and equipment and mentoring new support workers. I love tea, cats, my garden and the mighty Saints (COYR!!)

Transition Manager

Hi I'm Laurie and I'm the new Transition Manager at Windward Day Services based at Helix. I've been in this area of work for 16 years and am really looking forward to this new challenge supporting the guys and their families through the transition period. When I'm not at helix I enjoy going for walks in the forest with my children and Kayaking.

I have been working with Windward since I was 19 and now co-ordinate Spiral Blue. My favourite colour is pink and my favourite food is Italian. My satisfaction comes from seeing people grow into being the person they want to be. I love the holidays, dance and cooking and making it all as much fun as possible 🙂

Hello, I'm Fran. I have been working here since August 2012 and have been the coordinator at Windward since 2017. I have a passion for ensuring that all of our guys receive a fantastic quality service. I also have flair for DIY and interior design as you will probably notice if you come and look around Windward! On top of that I am also a qualified social worker.

Hey I'm Jess, I work at Windward. I started working here in 2016 and I love it- everyone is so friendly and welcoming. I love coming in everyday and it's great being a part of the guys' learning experience and seeing them achieve new skills. I have been in this line of work for many years and get so much from supporting people to gain independence and have fun. In my spare time I love travelling and exploring new places.

Hi, I'm Matt. I have been working at Spiral Blue since August 2017 and I love it! I trained as a mechanic when I left school, but changed my career when I was 18. My hobbies include rugby during the winter- playing for Fordingbridge RFC and doing steam rallies during the summer with my family. I have 3 children- Mason, Leo and Skylar and a wonderful wife called Charlie.

I work full time at Spiral Blue working with the Spiral Steppers put on their big shows! I am a very arty person and have recently qualified as a Makaton tutor- meaning I train all of our staff and run Makaton groups throughout Windward Day Services. I love coming to work as everyday is different.

I Studied carpentry in college, then taught myself to woodcarve and make furniture. My previous job was care worker for the elderly in their own homes. I like working at Windward because it's very rewarding. My hobbies are woodturning, woodcarving, snooker and watching/playing football.

I volunteered to work at Tatchbury Mount in the day centre for people with a learning disability- I loved it so much I took the job, many years on I still work in the same field because I love it! In 2015 I moved to Windward day Service due to their inspiring staff and service users. I love my family and other animals! Cooking, eating and the great outdoors.

Outside of work I enjoy being outdoors, especially walking my rescue dog 'Harry' in the countryside (It's even better when there's a pub en-route!!).

My name is Lee and I've been a Support Worker since 2009. I started working in residential care as I really enjoy meeting new people and helping them to learn new skills. I particularly like to assist in activities in a social setting, to empower individuals, help them to gain confidence and make new friends. I joined Windward as I really wanted to get back to the fundemental side of supporting individuals on a 1:1 basis to help access the various activities on offer.

I love it here already, everyone is so friendly and the place has a relaxed and fun atmosphere. I think it's wonderful that the guys are so involved in choosing the activities they want to do and that their happiness is paramount.

My name is Anita and I live in Poole with my mum and two sons and a puppy called Buddy. I also have a daughter who has two little boys, who I adore and see often. I'm also a foster carer, and am currently in the process of becoming a shared carer for disabled children. I have loved my time volunteering at Spiral Blue and am very much looking forward to joining the bank team.

In my spare time I love taking my daughter out with friends on new adventures, visiting new places and trying new things. One of my passions is jive dancing, having taken this up recently- I'm hooked! I've met some lovely people and we all get together weekly to dance the night away.

I used to have my own business and before that I worked in offices. I love working in this sector!! I enjoy baking, cooking, sewing and anything to do with arts and crafts. I am a real softy for animals too and have a Greek rescue dog, lots of rabbits and guinea pigs.

My name is Karen and I come from a fostering background. For approx 13 years we have fostered young children and teenagers, some with learning disabilities. I also worked at a combined residential home and day service. I primarily worked in the residential side but loved being involved in the many activities provided in the day service. Ensuring the guys had a good day ultimately meant I had a good day too. Outside of work I love walking my dog and going on holidays
